Thanksgiving week 2009

I am really looking forward to spending time with family in a few days.
David is coming home from school on Tuesday and on Thursday we will all
be family hopping. Tom and I saw New Moon tonight. It helps to have read
the book and have a teenaged daughter. I enjoyed it.
I love Joans art on view on her blog.

Hot dogs

Tom and I went to a Mariners baseball game Friday night. I ate three hotdogs. I couldn't believe how delicious they tasted! Colleen and Ariel and Sandy went with us. Mariners lost but today they beat Texas 5-3. Last night we went to an amazing Italian restaurant in Bremerton with Joni and Alex. It was the best food and I was overwhelmed by the talent in the kitchen. Alex rented a limo to drive us around. We went to the casino afterward but I didn't gamble because I can't stand losing money. It was a special evening and I am still recovering.

I love flowers!

These pink roses are vintage and smell like the most perfect rose. Just rich!
A small bouquet for our friend Joni's birthday today.

A large bouquet of just lilies for the table I just refinished.

These yellow roses are so fragrant!

Summer Sun

Almost 80 today! Definitely took the convertible. I want to spend the day goofing off. Last night we attended a fundraiser for Patty Murray at the Pauli's. Their outdoor scapes and new pool are amazing and fit the property and beach perfectly. I was nostalgic for the place we used live a couple of doors down the beach. At a fundraiser for Patty Lent on Tuesday I met a man from Kitsap Lake which made me miss the house we had there. There are beautiful places everywhere though. Last night we had champagne and a bonfire in the Japanese garden. Zosia, Ariel, Sandy, Tom and I all toasted the day and had giggles and music.

Here is my thought for the day: Take your loved ones and friends down off the pedestal and let them be awkward, less than perfect and really less than the superhumans you expect them to be.

Have a FABULOUS day!!!

Thursday, May 21, 2009

Tom has his feet up watching the Mariners be bad at baseball. I'm happy because the LA Lakers lost to Denver. Although I'm rooting for LaBron James and Cleveland.
There was a tease of sun today. It was actually over 70 degrees. I feel like I am about 70 following the double prom after-parties we had here last Saturday. David and Ariel together, not happily, but both parties combined for an excruciating night of sights I'll not forget soon enough. All I can say is Yuk.

Who all is ready to join me in getting ready to attempt a run in the Race for the Cure June 7? This is how I'm trying to learn to be a jogger:
1. Do it every day. Even for 10 minutes.
2. Jog as long as you can, then walk, fast.
3. Jog again longer, then walk.
4. Continue in this manner until the jogging is the distance you seek.

I can't believe Crystal, Jayson and Jacob are about to leave for Hungary. I promise to visit because Tom loves to travel as much as I do.

February09

Guess what? It's wet outside. I'm waiting for the sun. Was about 63 degrees the other day so I actually had to stop the car to run back in the house to get my sunglasses for the first wearing of the year. So fun to put on sunglasses. It's the little things in life...Took my convertible (vette) out the other day with a down parka and scarf-should have worn a face mask.
We leave for NY for a Valentine's Day treat (brr) on Friday the 13th. (Better update my will.) Taking the kids-I guess they are still kids- they are 16,17,18,18. I made a crafty card for everyone using paint and glitter and a personal tidbit of wisdom for each. I love Valentine's Day. I can't sleep for worrying about Payton Frances. I'm getting better at praying.
